Getting started: Payreq Delivery for billers and mailers

Modified on Thu, 23 Jul at 9:55 AM

Once your organisation has chosen Payreq Delivery, an onboarding contact from Payreq guides you through setup, from initial configuration to go-live. This guide explains what to expect, what Payreq configures for you, and what you need to provide for a smooth launch.

What to expect

Once your agreement is confirmed, you're introduced to your Payreq onboarding contact. They work with you to:

  1. Configure your organisation's Payreq Delivery account
  2. Set up branding, authentication, and payment settings
  3. Test document delivery and connect it to your internal systems
  4. Prepare your team for go-live and handover

Most organisations are fully set up within two to four weeks, depending on complexity and how quickly you can supply what's needed.

What Payreq configures for you

Your onboarding contact sets up the technical and customer-facing parts of your account, based on the information you provide:

  • Organisation details: your organisation name, ABN or BPAY biller code details, and logo (displayed to recipients in their Mailbox and featured on forms and templates), plus the public contact details customers use for queries.
  • Contact identification rules: what a recipient enters to access their documents (for example an account or reference number), the help text that guides them, and validation rules (for example a 6 to 8 digit number).
  • Optional authentication fields: any extra details you require to confirm identity (for example surname or date of birth), each with its own help text.
  • Delivery channels: one or more of Payreq Mailbox (individual or group), email, BPAY View, and Peppol eInvoicing.
  • Payments (optional): credit/debit cards, direct debit, and NPP options (PayID and PayTo), along with flexible scheduling and payment gateway integration.
  • User access: the team members who need access and their permission level, view only or edit, for Contacts, Mail, and Settings. For how permissions work and how to change them later, see Managing Users in Payreq Delivery.

What you provide

To set up your account, provide:

  • A sample of your documents (for example a bill, rates notice, or statement)
  • A sample email or SMS, if you use one
  • Your brand logo (PNG or SVG preferred)
  • Any preferred wording for authentication or payment prompts
  • Your internal and public-facing contact details

Payreq sends you a checklist and reviews test files with you before launch, so you can confirm everything looks right before any documents go to your customers.

What you manage after go-live

Once your account is live, you manage day-to-day delivery yourself through the Payreq Delivery console. You can:

  • Upload and deliver Mail via SFTP or direct upload
  • View delivery status and audit logs
  • Review undeliverable Mail and resend where needed
  • Manage Contacts, Subscriptions, and user permissions
  • Access Jobs and reports
  • Update branding, message text, and payment settings

For a tour of the console and where each of these lives, see Accessing and navigating your Payreq Delivery account.
